Michael Hong

Michael was admitted to practice in New Zealand after graduating from the Victoria University of Wellington with a double degree of the Bachelor of Laws (LLB) and Bachelor of Commerce and Administration (BCA). Michael established a successful private practice in New Zealand where he worked in all areas of law including property, SME, commercial, probate and estate and, family law.

In 2012, Michael moved to Melbourne. Michael worked for one of Australia’s leading financial institutions in its retail banking sector from 2013 to the end of 2015. Michael is also admitted to practice in Australia and has worked in private practice assisting clients of a diverse background in numerous matters.

With his combined experience in Australia and New Zealand that span over 2 decades, Michael has been involved in large property and project developments as well as a broad range of commercial matters including the recovery of property in bankruptcy matters. Michael has also assisted clients in court matters in the areas of criminal law, estate disputes and family law.

Michael is a strong communicator who works closely with his clients to help them resolve their legal matters and takes the time to patiently explain to his clients to ensure they fully understand their position. Although Michael grew up in New Zealand, Michael is fluent in Chinese, primarily Mandarin and Cantonese and is attuned to the cultural subtleties of communicating with international clients, in particular, from China, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Singapore and Taiwan. Michael’s pragmatic and sound approach to legal matters have enabled him to develop effective solutions for countless clients.
